Completing your 26-27 FAFSA

Step 1- Student & parent create an account

Student and the parent must both create their own individual account.  Go to studentaid.gov and click on create account (next to the green login button).  By creating this account, you are also setting up student/parent user id's and passwords to log in to the FAFSA.   Once these have been created, the accounts take 24-72 hours to activate. These must activate before it will allow you to complete your FAFSA.

Step 2- Complete the 26-27 FAFSA

After the account has activated, the student will login and do their portion of the FAFSA and then send an invite to the parent to do their part of the FAFSA.  The FAFSA is fairly easy to complete,  just answer the questions.

Tips

  • If you are under 24, not married, and no children your parent must be on your FAFSA and complete their part.  If you have an unusual situation such as legal guardianship, deemed homeless or ward of the court let us know.  If your parent is unwilling to be on your FAFSA, you will be very limited in financial aid.

  • The 26-27 FAFSA uses your 2024 Federal Taxes.

  • StudentAid.gov is the website.

  • If you have a sibling in college, make sure you include them as well on your FAFSA.
